Gemini integrates Apple Pay and Google Pay as a purchase option for cryptocurrencies
The crypto exchange opens up an easier and more direct way for its customers to buy cryptocurrencies.
The large American crypto exchange Gemini enables its users to use crypto currencies such as Bitcoin (BTC) via Apple Pay and Google Pay.
As from a corresponding announcement from Thursday, Gemini users who have linked their bank accounts with Apple Pay and / or Google Pay will be able to buy cryptocurrencies through the two payment service providers in the future. The relevant crypto funds are credited just one hour after purchase.
The new feature should apply to more than 30 cryptocurrencies that are carried on Gemini, including Bitcoin, Ether (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH) as well as Ethereum-based cryptos like Aave (AAVE), Dai (DAI) and Maker (MKR).
Gemini does not disclose what the fees for payments through Apple Pay and Google Pay will be. For crypto purchases by direct debit, the platform charges a fee of 3.49%, while transfers and payments with other cryptocurrencies are free.
In recent months, the crypto industry has made greater efforts to integrate established payment service providers such as Apple Pay and Google Pay. The crypto payment service BitPay did not have Apple Pay until February integrated, which means that its customers can now use the Apple Wallet to pay with cryptocurrencies such as BTC, ETH and LTC at online retailers. Another crypto payment service is Simplex in March cooperation received with Apple Pay.
